Hey, Bill - where y'at?

Actually, Mickey, it's "Where Yat, chumutha!"

Not when I was there!

In South Louisiana, the standard greeting, and usually well intended, is "How'syourmomandthem?"

Either that or "How's ya mama and all 'dem?"

Do any of you have a problem with insincere greetings? The one around here that seems most prevalent is "Good to see ya!".

I always have seen it as just being polite which it seems fewer and fewer people are.

Heres one for you all to try. When parting and the other person says "Well you have a nice day or have a nice day." The normal reply is "You too" if you say "You too" that is always the coversation ender. Try to remember to say "You also." instead, and you will nine times out of ten get another comment from them.

"You as well." is about as effective.

How are you?

Compared to what?

Never so good that they couldn't be better,

and never so bad that things couldn't get a LOT worse....

I guess that comes from having a LBC, or two, or three....

In Kentucky, a lot of times it's "Hey. What are you into?" Of course, the actual English spoken isn't as proper as what I typed !!
