Innovative Wall Art for the Garage when the Concours E-type is No Longer Art Enough

A Belgian artist has re-purposed old tires into extraordinary wall art.

For an idea, imagine the finest tooled leather horse saddle you ever saw and combine it with the most delicately wrought lacework your great-grandmother may have once admired.

Copyright prevents me from including a pic, but the artwork can be seen here:[DELETED - Read the rules]

Please be aware that the artist, like many artists online, has chosen an unnecessarily elaborate and slow loading Home page design. Once loaded, you will see a cartoon town. Click the Tyre store/gasoline station to see the tire art individually and then click the glass pyramid for a few more images in a museum setting.

The artist, Wim Delvoye, is both deeply and broadly skilled. You can view his other works by further exploring the cartoon town, but be forwarned, some of his other pieces may make your eyes roll. Mine did, and I am a also an artist (mosaics).

Still, these tyres are worth seeing.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Delvoye in any way. Some contents may have settled in shipping. The coffee is Very hot. Etc. etc.

Please don't make your first post a link to some website that has nothing to do with British cars. Don't take this personally, but unfortunately that is what hackers/spammers do - they join and make one post - a link to some website, which very often contains malware that infects people's computers. I have no way of knowing if that's the case here, but nevertheless, that is what they they will do. Please make a post in our "New Members Introductions" forum and tell us a bit about yourself and your British car(s).

Here's a safe link to some pic of the afformentioned tires. While there is talent definatly involved, as an artist, I'm less than inspired. I was hoping for something incredible. I've been wanting to "do something" with tires for a while now. Unfortunatly, his tires still look like tires albeit highly decorated ones. The biggest problem with using tires as a medium is making them not look like tires anymore.

carved by burning the material with a soldering iron.

I assume the artist is now recuperating from all the toxins that released!

I thought I'd seen it all, but this brings me back to reality! Quite a task, however it's done! Is the artists workplace called, the rubber room? PJ
