Inlet Manifold Question

My inlet manifold is broken and I have sourced a replacement. The new manifold has the stamping AEC862 on the underside and has no bolt holes for the bolts that connect the inlet to the exhaust manifold. The old manifold has AEC957 stamped on the underside. Apart from that, they are exactly the same. Does anyone know which car the AEC862 manifold would have come from? Any reason why I can't get a machine shop to drill the holes in the new manifold for me?

It's missing a large chunk off one of the ports. The car's not run in my ownership and it came that way so don't know how it happened.

From my Healey parts lists it looks like your "new" manifold may be from an early 100-6. The first image below shows the early 100-6 manifold without bolts where the second image for the 3000 shows the bolts. It's interesting that the AEC part number in the 100-6 parts book shows AEC 1293 which replaced AEC 871. No mention of AEC 862.

Thanks, looks like it's a 100-6 part. Do you think it would be safe to drill the holes..?

From the drawings, looks like they added the bolts later on to improve the heat transfer from the exhaust to intake manifolds. Doubt if this would be a concern in Oman.

Also there wouldn't be any point in drilling the manifold if the exhaust manifold didn't have the matching holes.
