Ok, so a customer of mine comes to me with this problem, his wife got burgers down at the local grease & puke and the grease runs through the burger wrapper and the ink bleeds on to the leather seat of his new Lexus. He's tried everything that he could think of just short of dynamite.
He decides to call American Shine Products to see what we can do for him. Now me and my infinite knowledge of car cleaning, I ask him to come buy the warehouse so that I can see just how bad it is. Well I check it out when he comes over and in the middle of his beige leather upholstry it says in bright red letters "Tommy Burgers" and it is outlined around the print, mind you all of this in BRIGHT RED LETTERS. I think to myself, ok, I have some stuff that I picked up at the SEMA Show last November that says right on the label "INK AWAY" for leather upholstry.
I try that, no use, I ask, "How Long has the stain been on the seat?" He responded "for about a month now" Well now I'm thinking, I try my upholstry cleaner Super Kleen, no use, I try several other cleaners, no way. So we talk about it, and finally come up with the conclusion that he is going to have to replace the panel in the seat. Now that I have him validated in making the repair, we decide "Well, what have we got to loose?" so I pull out the industrial cleaners, I try everything, even straight gasoline. That ink will not come out for anyting. So I have one more thought, and go back into the warehouse, get a rag and some stuff that one would never imagine would clean a soft leather seat. I put it on and start to rub. The next thing I know THE INK IS GONE!!! Now the secret to what I used, this is just for all of you, but be liberal in what you do!
I used My Stage I Super Duty Rubbing Compound. Just a light amount on a soft microfiber towel. Rubbed it lightly and away the ink stain came. AND it did not fade the leather seat. After that I used our Super Shine Leather Rubber & Vinyle replenisher and the seat looked as good as new!
Remember, always do a test spot FIRST! before you continue on with the rest. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
