I have recently purchased a TR6 and the only identification on it was a sheet metal tag attached to the driver's side A-pillar. The number is CC55613L. My investigation indicates that is a 1970 model, right? Also, is this a factory I.D. plate? Is the real Commission plate the one that is suppossed to be located on the left inner fender well? Any help would be appreciated. Scott in CA CIMG2212b.jpg

The one in the left door under the latch is it. They are put on with a large pop rivet, most are taken off when the car is paint and reattached with regular rivets, the original has a rounded type head. The plate on the left inner fender gives mostly Emission information. Other plates are body numbers.

So what is this plate and associated number attached to the A pillar? Body number? Non-factory tag? Does anyone have any pictures to share of the plates and where they are located?
The car was sold as a 1973 model.

That is it, your Vin number and it may have been changed, look at your title and make sure it matches. It sometimes doesn't match, but you can get a new plate made, be careful if you go the the DOT they tend to make this a big issue.

One final question before I put this to bed.....is it indeed a 1970 model?
BTW, thanks all. Scott

Based on your commission number (CC55613L) it is probably a 1970.
CC51033L was the first production number in Jan of '70
CC60902L was the last production car that year.
I also doubt you have a '73 since commission numbers that year started with "CF"
