Inexpensive heat gun- credit where credit is due

Spending a lot of money on a tool, sometimes isn't necessary, take my heat gun...or rather if you try, you'll have a fight.

I bought a Wagner "Power Stripper" almost 10 years ago- no frills, 2 heat ranges, and it is still working great. I spent less than $30.00 in '97 and the thing still works like new.

Just this weekend, I used it to strip paint off of 6 inch wide trim over a length of 30+ feet...and did it in almost record time. It even took a fall from the roof to the ground...no ill effects (not the first time either).

Over the years, I've used it for numerous stripping chores and every automotive application you can think of. It has never skipped a beat. I have used this thing hard and often. I cannot image a heat gun job that this thing would not do (distance and time make up for having only 2 heat settings).

I've ranted about some tools, just thought I'd share a positive story.

Good story. and a good idea for a heat gun.
I got one of those expensive professional ones when they threw it out at work.
Our "recon" department dropped it and the plastic nut holding the heat control plate broke causing the bolt on the back side to fall into the fan.
They gave it up for lost. I picked it out of the trash, brought it home and had it all fixed in about 10 minutes, including a thourough cleaning.
Works beautifully.
Of course I would have gone for actually purchasing the Wagner unit long before buying one of these ones.

I got a new drafting board from one of my work places because everyone complained it wobbled. My daughter was in drafting in high school and needed a board at home. This came with the T square on lines. Got it home and yes you are right -- no one tighted the screws in the base when they put it together. Presto--I did and the table is still in operation today.
