I thought Nascar was the best thing TV has had in decades !

If so why is it on ESPN and not on NBC or Fox ?

a "real" race series would be on broadcvast TV

Beaulieu

wishing I could watch Nascar while I am out by the lake

Nascar has been on TNT for 1/2 the season...this is nothing new.

The wife and I were in Joliet for the Chicagoland Busch Series race last Saturday and will be in Indy for the Brickyard 400 a week from Sunday.

I don't find NASCAR boring...you just have to know where to look for the action.

Hey now be nice fellas. NASCAR can't help it if there’s more action, stories & intrigue off the track than there is on it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

A GOOD race is a GOOD race, whether it's go-carts, dirt-trackers, F1, WRC etc. etc. etc. AND, conversely, there is nothing worse than a bad race and I have also seen them in F1 as well as the other leagues!!! What could be more boring than some of those F1 "parades" around a track when there is no position change etc. Just as boring as watching NASCAR go round and round!!! But wheel-to-wheel/fender-to-fender racing is good no matter what!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/winner1.gif/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

I've always enjoyed the NASCAR race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. Nice road coarse. Fun to watch the cars making right hand turns, shifting gears and braking.

Cheers,
Rob

At least the France family (NASCAR) behaves better than Bernie (F1).

And who besides me wishes for the day that CART and IRL join forces again?

All ovals for me to tears. It's like long distance drag racing with left hand turns. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Sunday Here in Los Angeles we have over the "free" airwaves

Indy racing (yahn)

american Lemans (much better)

Motorcyle GP from Laguna seca

And Tour de France

But Nascar is on cable

Maybe NASCAR is on cable (not "free" airwaves as you put it), because people are willing to pay for it. Heck, on Direct-TV you can get a NASCAR package of several channels that concentrate on individual cars for each race. At the start of the season I think they charged $50 for the season, now they're down to $30 for the second half.

Don't get me wrong I find it just as boring as everyone else. I watch our two hometown races sometimes, but even then its with only partial interest.

I "watch" Nascar races like this

The start and the first few laps.....

then go outside for an hour or so,

come back in and check who is winning...

outside another hour or so, back in and see whats happening,

figure out when the last 20-30 laps are , come in and watch those while playing on the computer where I can also watch TV.

Watching 3-4 hours straight of nascar , indy car etc would drive me crazy , but then the same could be said for 3-4 hours of baseball, football or how ever long a basketball game is...

I guess I just have a short attention span....MTV or something /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

A lot has to do with WHERE they race. I am bored to tears with the mile to two mile tracks, but LOVE superspeedway, short track, and sorta like road course. There is nothing like Daytona, Talladega, and Bristol. Plus it kinda helps to have a favorite driver or team. When you have a driver in a race, you are kinda vested in it. When you don't know or care whose in the race in ANY series, BORING. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

All the cars look the same and mostly have the same specs.

To bad.

What ever happened to Thrusday nite Thunder.

Tony Stewart raced open wheel at Macon County Speedway last night. (Near Decatur, IL). He is part owner of the track.

Kenny Schrader often comes to the Farmer City, IL dirt track to race during the off-weekends in the summer.

I grew up with small dirt track ovals with hobby cars, modifieds, sprints, super sprints, midgets, etc. It was the thing to do on a Friday or Saturday night if one was a gearhead.
