indicators don't cancel!

There's a piece of plastic on top of the steering column that is supposed to do this. Trouble is that it's easy to break. Seems like it's gray plastic, symetrical, with sharp ends pointing down. I broke mine a couple of years ago. The replacement part was close to $50 from the parts companies, so I decided I could turn my own indicators off for $50.

Yep, it's me again. Can one give me some guidance on this one?

Thanks

Dunno what year B you have, but the cancel on my 73 is a two part operation. There's a steel clip sprung onto the column shaft. This is the canceling "base". It resets the plastic spring loaded ears of the indicator. Two possibilities: make sure the "base" is aligned correctly on the column (protruding at 9PM with the wheel dead ahead) or the indicator springs/ears are knackered.
