TR4/4A Inconspicuous or period-correct backup light for TR4

I would like to add a backup light to my TR4 that would be inconspicuous when dark yet effective when lit, such as a string of super-bright white LEDs mounted below the bottom edge of the panel below the rear bumper or else Frenched into it. Alternatively, would there be a period-correct light that would not have to be hidden? Suggestions would be welcome.

Randall and Wayne, both lamps look good. Thank you for your suggestions.

I have a friend with a TR250 - his factory reverse lights are the same assembly as the front turn signals with a clear lense.

Here is a photo of my backup light installed on my 4A. It's the 494 example shown above. I made a small bracket that attaches to a bumper bolt. My 4A @ PVGP 2011.jpg

Looks nice Jerry, I did one on each side for a friend, very effective.

Jerry, thank you for the photograph of your installation, which I will probably copy.

Gerald, (I'm another Gerald) if I recall I actually drilled a hole in the bumper bracket to mount the light. The car is in storage now but I can take a photo once I revive it for spring driving. I also drilled and tapped the transmission top cover for an isolation switch so the light turns on when I shift into reverse. That takes a bit of work but if you now have access to the transmission top cover I'd recommend doing the same. Lets take this to regular e-mail. My e-mail is jerryvv @ roadrunner dot com
