See email below. This is a reply from pertronix tech support about setting the spark plug gap when having a pertronix ignition.... Can anybody comment on if this is good or see any improvement or other issues when increasing the gap as mentioned below by pertronix?

Jason,

We suggest opening the gap between .005-.007 over the stock settings.

I bought a Lucas 25d distributor with pertronix electronic iginition in it.
I also bout a pertronix flamethrower 3.0 ohm coil to go with it in my 1500 mg midget.
When going to electronic ignition, should I have a larger gap for my spark plugs? If so what should I set the gap to?

Opening the gap of the plugs up will increase the spark voltage. I've heard several people say they have taken advantage of the wider gap to improve fuel economy.

What about a flame-thrower electronic distributor with a hotter coil on a 1500 Mg Midget-wider plug gap also? thanks Jim

With respect to the Pertronix unit, this question came up for John Twist at a tech seminar at MG2008 last week.

He suggested 0.035" plug gap.

I am running a 0.032" plug gap in my race car (with Pertronix and normal, 12V American-style coil and ballast resistor).

Works great and no plug fouling even with rich, 12.5/1 fuel mixture.
