In the paint shop!

Delivered the bodyshell to the painter a couple of weeks ago, and the remaining panels in dribs and drabs.

I went back last night to drop off the door hinges which I had forgotten, and checked progress. The wings (fenders) are all in primer and ready to paint, as is the boot lid and windscreen frame, which had needed minor welding. The bonnet still needs work as one headlight eyebrow had been dented and repaired with filler so will have to be panel beaten out properly.

I had a look at the paint sample, slightly darker than previously, I would say, but hard to tell. Anyway better that than too orange!
I am getting excited about reaching this major step in the process, and if it comes out as well as I think it will it will be $5000 well spent.
It is scary what it costs to rebuild a car which was really pretty nice before!
Simon.

Great progress!

(I'm going to strip the $5000 part of your email from my brain as it is simply too painful to think about what putting mine right is going to cost.)

Exactly, remember how optimistic we all felt making a TR purchase. Oh, it just needs some new seat covers and a tune-up.......

I think it applies to any old car... take a look at Jerseygirl's Volvo page...

When she bought the car I never would have dreamed we'd be at the stage in the latest installment... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

We're hoping... PRAYING... the Spitfire never gets to that point... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

frankly, it doesn't matter what it costs. IF WE GIVE OUR PASSIONS WE MIGHT AS WELL JUMP OFF A BRIDGE!. (by the way. i'm having a very bad day at work).

Simon, who is painting your car??(sorry if you already posted it, i probably missed it)I've been looking for a place to have my TC done.....I am REALLY taking my time with this restoration, so I've got about 2 years before I am ready for paint.....but I'd really be interested in how yours turns out.
BTW: I am willing to spend between 5-10K to get a PERFECT job.

You going to Ancaster on the 16th for the swap / market? We will be heading down and am going to get in touch with Simon to see if he is heading down? Never been, but sounds like a great day.

I'll probably be there.....Not sure if I'll have an LBC ready to go, but I can at least take the Jag. Hope to see you there
