What a day. Since it was so nice out, I decided that the TR3 needed some fresh air. It's only the second time it's been out of the garage since completing the restoration (four years worth). I still have the rat-rod wires on there, but I'll be getting some new wheels and tires soon. I also have to adjust the headlights, so the chrome headligh rims aren't on yet. It won't get registered and insured until the spring, so I only drove it down the street. It makes all the right noises and smells! Today was just a tease until the real spring arrives.

Really looks good. I use the Brooklands on my 3 most of the year too.
Why not rattle can the wires til the new wheels arrive, only take a sec. What kind of wheels?
 
I'll stick with the wires, but go a little wider. The tires that are on there now are 40 year old Pirelli Cinturatos that I don't trust. So I don't want to really drive the car until I get new shoes. I'm just caught between going with painted or chrome wires. I like the look of the painted, but there is a certain aura to the chrome wires.
 
Looking great Art. There is nothing like taking the TR out for a run after a break, no matter how short the drive.
Personally, I prefer painted wires.

Congratulations on the completion of what must have been a lot of work. Great looking car. I will replace my painted wires with the same one of these days.
 
I have the Daytons that have stainless spokes (stronger) and a chromed wheel. I like them for ease of maint. but, If I had a painted set I'd be tempted to repaint them a tan color for my red TR3....so maybe I'm lucky I have a chrome set.

I said this because you don't have bumpers on the car. I've seen more TR-3's less bumpers with chrome wires and they look great. Not too much bling, just the right amount.

Art: Don't listen to Paul. He doesn't know what he's talking about (concerning side-screen TR's) :nonono: Chrome wheels on a TR2 or 3 is "gilding the lily" :yesnod:

Looks like you've got a real gem of a TR3 there, ARt!

Nothin' like driving/riding a TR3. Every time it do it, it takes me back in time, kinda like a time capsule.

Pure driving experience, that.

I installed 60 spoke Dayton chromes shortly after purchasing my car in '93. I think they take a bit more effort to keep sparkling, but are worth it. The contrast between the chrome and the black paint really sets it off.
For me, dark paint and chrome wires. Light colored paints and chromes look great, but the chrome is a little less visible...if that makes sense.
 
Will trade TR6 that is 3/4 put together and has a little body rust with all new panels available for a complete redone TR3B. Straight swap.
Must be overdrive.

I concede that these are very pretty cars. I might even go as far as painted wires. :smirk:
 
I drool over that black TR3 at every show. It is beautiful inside and out.

Of course the cream and the two tone green are no dogs either and the club has a few red ones that will knock your socks off.

That's my TR6 in the last picture down at the end. I always like to park next to the TR3's as they get the most girls walking by smiling at the cars.

You must keep your priorities in order when attending a show, you know!

Chick traffic and as close to food and rest rooms as possible.
