So, its rainy & overcast & I'm ziping down the autobahn at 180kph in my turbocharged diesel Audi A4 w/6 forward gears (2100 rpms at 180k's!!) when I pass one of the new MG TF's in the right lane....farther down the autobahn I stopped at a 'restplatz' to stretch my legs & get a bite to eat when a 1951 MG TD pulls into the parking space next to me...older man & wife...I started speaking German to them & they answered me in the Queen's English - they live in Finland & are touring the continent...I mentioned to the wife that they should put their side curtains on but she said it was too confining with them up & the weather would clear up soon anyway!!

Got to hotel...internet access is 5.50Euro per hour (about $6.50)...if I roam on my US T-Moble account its 18-cents per minute....found an internet cafe where its 1.50Euro per hour....but their keyboards are totally different from ours (i.e., Z is where y is, characters are in different places, etc)

So, I'll try to check in occassionally! But not for long!!

Very cool. Touring the continent. Wow that must be fun. Keep us posted and careful tzping. ;0

Sounds good.

But I wonder if turbo-diesels are as common in the US as they are here. I've got two- a van and an estate car besides the LBCs. I have to use something to haul the parts. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Turbo-Diesels are still a rarity in the USA. Diesels were all over the place when I went to europe last year, but the feds have issues with the emissions of most of these vehicles, from what I can gather.

Every time we go to Honduras, I see lots of diesels. Mitsubishi had a four door pickup based on the Montero Sport chassis. Good looking truck, and they can be had with a turbo-diesel. I'm told they pull like nobody's business. Was really tempted to try and sneak one home!
