Perhaps a dumb question but I cannot determine if the rpm in 4th is higher or lower than the rpm in 3rd with over drive.

Dang close though, isn't it. Sometimes when I'm running along in 4th O/D and I want alittle more oomph, I downshift to 3rd O/D. But sometimes I just kick it out of O/D and leave it in 4th. Using the clutch and going down to 3rd is alittle smoother on the drivetrain than just dropping it out of 4th.
