In 2017 I resolve to ...

1. Louver my bonnet.

6. Neve neva drive in ah rain.----:angel2:

1) Install my new Denis Welsh Steering Box and Lempert Steering Wheel
2) Don't bust my knuckles in doing so
3) Resist the temptation to ask my Healey Assistant for help, even if it is for just a minute

Talk less, listen more.

I used to have a louvered bonnet on the 64 ...never a problem when I did get caught in the rain but if you do wash the car with soap n water etc lift the bonnet and cover the engine with a garbage bag or small tarp etc before you wash .....dont ask why I know this .
I have gone back to the smooth look on the restored 64 and my painter was very happy with my decision ....paint n body guys hate louverd panels .....total B!?$& to paint prep etc .

Anyways for 2017 I will finish the detail on the 64 and hopefully get going on some work on the Tri-Carb project .

More Day trips in the Healey.

  1. Go to Monterey International Healey Week, September 11 - 15, 2017.
  2. Install the Panhard rod repair.
  3. Install the rear brake proportioning valve.
  4. Install the oil catch tank and reconnect the PCV.

My Healey-related resolutions for 2017:

1. Drive my home-based BN2 more. (I finally got around to checking the carbs and distributor that were installed 20+ years ago as part of a Le Mans Kit installation, and they are authentic 100M parts: 6047/6053/40520).
2. Edit/publish/produce eleven 40-page issues of HEALEY MARQUE magazine, plus a calendar in December.
3. Organize and chair the Austin-Healey Northwest Meet in The Dalles, Oregon, May 11-14.
4. Organize and chair the Classic Motor Rally, originating in Salem, Oregon, June 24-25.
5. Attend Conclave in Waco, Texas, July 9-14 (driving my Bugeye to the event from Louisville, Kentucky, where it is stored).
6. Organize and chair the "Commonwealth Tour de Cascadia," a new event hosted by my shop and scheduled for August 12-13 (dates tentative).
7. Recruit 20 Healeys for a special display as the featured marque at the Collector Car & Classic Boat Show in Lake Oswego, Oregon, August 27.
8. Attend Monterey International Healey Week, September 11-15, in my 100 (and produce and publish the event program for it at no charge (if my offer is accepted), and publicize the event through various media).
9. Attend the Austin-Healey Southeastern Classic at Lake Guntersville, Alabama, October 12-17 (driving my Bugeye to the event from Louisville, Kentucky, where it is stored).
10. Operate Commonwealth Classics Ltd., my vintage British car repair shop, as a service to the British car community (I take no salary).

Oh yeah, and moderate this Austin-Healey Forum.

Yeah, it's a light year.

Dang! :
I thought that fella Reid Trummel was actually gonna do some work!----:friendly_wink:

Drive my BJ7 on the street for the first time in too many decades!

Get this fugitive 67 that was on the brink of being parted to the rod bolts and sold on ebay functioning and beautiful again. The world needs to see more cool stuff on the road!
Come on Sancho, I think I see a windmill!
Happy New Year!

Well I might fit in one of they new fangled alternator thingys to drive the new lighting system.
and I am also looking out for a new pair of 7" spot lights, and would like to replace the boot (trunk) floor at some stage, the new part is still under wraps from 4 years ago. A side exhaust would be nice, I keep scraping the rear of the stock unit on the road when I get onto my drive. ( that's my excuse for a replacement anyway)

Bob
