Yipeeee! I found the lost keys to the Santa Fe! Yesterday I spent the day in the garage working on the Jaguar. At one point I had to make a trip to Auto Zone, so I took the Santa Fe up the road and bought a few things. When I came back I continued working on my Jag until my wife came out and asked me for the keys to the Santa Fe! Whoops! Keys not in pocket! No problem, I probably put them on the key holder where they belong! Nope, not there! So then I spent the rest of the night tearing apart my garage, my house, re-tracing steps, looking everywhere I could think of - they have to be somewhere on my property! I even dumped out the trash and went through each piece! No dice. I finally resigned myself that they were gone forever and went to bed. This morning I got up and went out to continue working on the Jag. All the while keeping my eyes open for the missing keys! Just for grins, I decided to go through my tool box one more time, even though I'd been through it twice the night before. So I started at the top and worked my way down the drawers. Finally on the third drawer down on the lower half of my tool chest, VIOLA! There were my keys, sitting there pretty as you please! I had opened that drawer and must have looked right at them twice the night before!

That does it, I'm buying one of those key fobs that has a beeper that can be activated remotely because I just know this isn't the last time I'm going to have this kind of senior moment!

Your next key location project is for my fishing jeep.
I used my keys to move it from the driveway to the street
so the Sears guy could have the space to deliver the new
dishwasher. Jeep remained parked all week while I worked
on the TR6 and drove the Mrs. Jeep.

Friday night organizing everything for Sat dawn fishing trip.
No Jeep keys. Normally not a problem, I've got spares of
everything............except the member's key to the marina!
I've a feeling the TR6 is the culprit.

Back in 1998 I did a RO commisining at a Coke a Cola plant in SO. CAl.and I lost my world text pager.
In 2007 I went to the plant to make some program changes and under a drawing in the control panel there it was..
Holy cow I could not believe it. Question is what do you do with a antique?

I have two sets of keys, and I have only TWO PLACES that I will ever put them. In my pocket, or on the shelf above our bed. I have <span style="font-weight: bold">never deviated </span>from this ritual in the 35 years I've been in my house. I have many senior moments lately, but locating my keys is never a problem. My wife on the other hand could use one of those key locaters!

Ooof. If I'm missin' anything now, I look in th' freezer first. :jester:

<humble>

I blamed 'smits for losin' a set of th' Cortina keys once. About three YEARS later I found them in a leg pocket of a flight suit I'd had on when workin' on th' beast. My bad.

</humble>

Got a key holder as you walk from the hallway into the kitchen. Always hang them up. Only time I have a problem is when I put them in my purse - you know that black hole we ladies call a handbag...

Ask 'smits for a screwdriver an' she'll respond: "Slot or Phillips?"

With a defining reply she will produce it from that "black hole".

Also a P-38 (can opener), any coupon for a "BOGO" meal, a suture for a wound or a weapon for self-defense. There are times I wish I'd been born female.

Then I look a Her and just ~melt~...

I have no such self discipline! If my head wasn't firmly affixed to my neck I'm sure I'd misplace that too!

I NOW have minimized keys, and I follow Art's discipline. ONE place for th' keys.

House locks are ALL the same, all toolboxes are keyed commonly, LBC's are ALL activated by ONE key, Alfa and Benz are different of necessity... But my life is simpler. Five keys are all I need to deal with my whole world. And I know where they are at all times.

Either would be a bit too large, actually.

Never remove them from the ignition when it is parked at the house

Really? By morning, my Wrangler would be on a cargo ship headed
to Aruba or other points south.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Cleaned out the Wrangler -----no keys
Cleaned out the Mrs. Jeep -------no keys
Cleaned up the TR6 work area -------no keys
Cleaned up the painting area ---------no keys
Tore apart my office------------no keys
Went thru the pockets of every pair of
jeans and shorts I own ------------------no keys
Went thru my fishing gear -------------no keys
Searched around the pool -------------no keys
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I keep my keys only two places:
1. Corner of kitchen cooking island.
2. Blown Glass sculpture in dining room.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The Mrs is leaving for the grocery store a few
minutes ago and reaches into her purse for her keys
because that's where she ALWAYS keeps them. ALWAYS.

With a rather red face, she hands me my missing keys.
Force of habit, she puts keys in her purse.

Ya just never know!! LOL
