I'm sick of pooptastic parts

Quote:]I have shelves full of NOS genuine Jaguar parts for my XJS[/QUOTE]
Jesse, are you saying you've got shelves full of genuine Jaguar parts that have never been out of their original boxes?

Well, I do. Lockheed, Lucas, BMC... but th' pile is runnin' out.

I do too... for the Spitfire and the MGB. eBay/Carlisle/Swap meets... whenever I see them, I buy them.

Reason I was asking Jesse is that I've got a huge box of NOS/OE Jaguar parts but have no idea to what they go.

Tony, you betcha. Most of what I have is/are for XJSs, but I keep a little series 3 and some XJ40 stuff also. Send me a list of part numbers and I will see if I can help. I have a series 3 parts book, along with the XJS books.

I agree with with what Tony is saying about buying cheaper parts and then complaining about them. I also think that Moss is one of the best friends we have as far as repo parts are concerned. If you have a complaint, tell then and they will do their best to correct it or find out more about the problem. BUT, one thing I think is overlooked a lot, is the fact that there folks out there who are trying to keep some of these cars from the crusher and who are doing a great job on a very limited budget. Sure a Triplex windshield is supposedly top shelf, but it's also 250 bucks. Not everybody can afford that. Re chroming original parts is always the best, but it's expensive. So the cheaper repos will continue to be made, some of us will buy them and some of us will complain when they don't meet our standards. Remember, 15 years ago you couldn't buy half of what we can today to restore these cars. I think it's great! JMHO.PJ

Oh, I forgot. When I said that Triplex was SUPPOSEDLY the best. Well, after installing one in the 72, about a week later, standing at the right angle on the passenger side, I noticed a defect in the upper right hand corner. It'll stay there as I refuse to do that job again. Check them good when you pull them out of the box. I don't care who makes it!

Ain't that th' truth. I remember the "dry" times.

The middle 70s were bad bad.

No internet/eBay, no forums, no parts but what you could find at your local place, Moss was a two page listing.

Much better now.

Here's one for you: how many digits in your Moss Customer Number? Mine has 4!

I think they lost my early number. Kind of like Vins. all are now 17 numbers.

Moss and MG Mitten...

Yep, sorry, I meant XXXX.....

Is that on the catalogue labels or just orders?

Talking about the individualized customer number they gave you way back when you first started buying parts - oh, wait, DOC, yours probably uses Roman numerals!!

....putz....

:jester:

I was told at The Lake of the Ozarks that Doc helped pick out the color for dirt.

Not sure if true tho but I did check Snopes...

Figgers... when I'm not around to "confirm or deny"...

*sheesh*

...and oddly enuff, TODAY is in fact my birthday.

& how old might ye be, Doc?
