I'm lost !

OK - I know - it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks!

I'm lost in this new format forum thingummy - I have little confidence I'll find my way back to seeing any replies, or actually posting this plea! Before I could sort it so that unread posts were at the top in reverse chronological order (ie most recent first). Now we seem to have little symbols but no sign of a table to say what they mean. Once, I saw a button to only show unread posts, now I can no longer find it.

...argh.... am I in a black hole ????

Hi Andrew,

You are making progress, you were able to post!

I think the unread post still appear as before, except for the emperor/moderator stuff at the very beginning of the forum. Basil has also indicated a request has been made to show the unread post in bold as before.

Have patience, you will get use to it.

I believe that the new posts are still at the top in reverse chronological order (with the "sticky" threads above those of course). Check the leftmost column and you'll see the little file folder symbol will be closed and manila-colored before your have read it, or when something new is posted. If you've already seen it, the little folder symbol will be white and open. Piece of cake.

Andrew, the <span style="color: #009900">newer posts</span> / <span style="color: #009900">topics</span> will still be <u>at the top</u>. Also, when you first go into a forum, any topics that have new replies since your last visit (or any new topics) will have their little folders colored <span style="color: #FFCC00">yellow</span>. The <s>only</s> one thing that is missing is the ability to see all "unread threads" versus "read threads" as in the old forum where it would <span style="color: #663366">color the background</span> of the thread's row if it was a topic you have not read. I'm told that feature will return in a future version; maybe not the very next version, but probably a version soon after that.

In the meantime, if there are specific topics that you want to easily follow (like this one), try this:

1. While viewing a topic, click "<u>Topic Options</u>" at the top of the thread and select "<u>Add to My Watched Topics</u>".

2. After you have anned one or more topics to your "Watched Topics" lists, go to "<u>My Stuff</u>" then select "<u>My Watch Lists</u>".

3. Once in your "Watched Lists Area", click the "<u>Watched Topics</u>" tabs an viola you can see, read and reply to, all the topics you are "watching", regardless of what forum they are in.

4. You can "<span style="color: #3333FF">Edit</span>" your watched topics list to remove topics from it that you no longer want to "watch".

5. Note that you can also "watch" users (you will see listed all posts by any users you are watching. YOu add a user you your "Watched Users" lists from there profile page. You can also "watch" entire forums. This watch list feature is something that I encourage everyone to play around with a little.
