Well, I am putting in new sills...
But, as hard as it was to take the fenders and windshield off, I just cant wait till I try to put them back in.
I didnt take the dash out, so I had to play contortionist to remove them all. Okay, I got them all out. Is there a way to keep my sanity when I try to put them back. I am talking mainly about holding the bolts, washers, and tools at the same time. Is it worth taking the dash out now, or just get ready for a hard time, and maybe have a few before I start. More to help me limber up than anything.
Any suggestion, and are there any tricks to the reinstalling portion of the fenders, windshield. Actually, I shouldnt say windshield, I got to the bolts fairly easy removing it, it was the #%@& /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif fenders that had me talking.

Take the dash out - you'll thank yourself later....oh, only tackle one side at a time...keep the other door in place & figure out some way to brace the side where you're cutting.
 
......and when you put the dash back, put 1/4" grommets over the studs in the upper dash lip, then only put on the two outer nuts and attach the lower "tie" bars. That way, you can remove the dash in about 15 mins. Makes working on dash wiring, instruments, cables, etc. a whole lot easier!

I've seen the grommet suggestion several times, do you push the grommet over the stud once the dash is in place.
Not a real bright question but one I've pondered on.
 
that's the way I'd do it, and I believe you could use o rings instead of grommets if you wanted to. I always get my daughter's friend with the small hands to help with the hard to get bolts
 
One sill down, one more to go...
It only took 1 1/2 weeks? This is something that once Im done, I never will do again. If I ever get another car, it better have good sills, or not a chance.
But, I feel better about the car I have. My blood, sweat, and a few tears are now welded into place.

Havent done much with the other side yet, but here's the question: What do you fill or not fill in the outer sill seem between the rocker and the dogleg where they come together?
I have seen some filled completely, and some with some type of filler. I figured something has to go there besides a heavy coat of paint to keep the elements out...
Any advice would be appreciated. My other side had some kind of rubber filler in it, but did'nt know the correct way to do this for sure.

P.S. Just got back from the Grand Rapids, MI Metro Cruise.
(16 miles of 28th street stop and go traffic) Its gotten bigger and better every yr. Its about to catch the Detroit Woodward Cruise in numbers.
The Old Speckled Hens of West Michigan had all their cars parked at the local Lexus Dealership on 28th Street. They(we) had a good turnout. A good 50-60 MG's showed up along with a handful of Triumphs, AH's, and a Lotus. Nothing like sharing the road with the pony and muscle cars of yester year.

That's right, don't smooth them over, just use it to fill them.

The same applies to the seams at the centre of the tail-lamps and in the case of your car the rear panel with the back-up lamps. The seams on the rear panel were "semi-exposed" IIRC.

Little here, little there. Thanks for the info on the sealer also. I will never do this again, never, never, never...

P.S. Side bar, my dad was at the AACA show in Hershey this weekend. Guess what he brought home? A Pontiac Soltice.
And to top it off, he only payed $50 for it.
Oh, I forgot to mention the raffle he entered. Maybe he will will it to me when hes done with it?
 
hehehehe...but will his Solstice hold its value & intrique like our MG's?

And photos are definitely in order - on the MG, not the Pontiac!
