I'm in Love

Yeah, I guess. Somehow a red bugeye of the same vintage as me seems legit, but a new elise doesn't. Just my hangup. Don't worry about it; I'll survive.

'Course, I'm still mulling over that Healey 3000....

Egad... I ~refuse~ to change the colour of my cars just 'cause I'm now "officially" an old fogey!

...and I'd have about any colour Elise to affordably come my way...

I can always PAINT it a proper shade of RED later.
Doc, you'd love this museum I stumbled on up on Cape Cod...everything's the proper shade of red!

You want a real Lotis Jack, get a Seven. Ever see that british TV show called The prisoner? He was driving a 7 that he built himself. They came as kits back in the day or you could have them assembled by a dealer or something. They are cool.

Had the pleasure when my bud was layed up with a broken leg back in the mid 60s of raceing a super 7. Fast and quick.

That's quite an extensive collection that owner has...not so sure about the 26 cats though...

woof.

Have to admit I hope he keeps the Elite in BRG.

That is a cool collection of cars Tony, kinda what the Garagemahal should become!! I Love the "Wind in the Willows" association with the name of the place!

Yeah, they're really sexy but...somehow, it doesn't seem right for an old fogey like me. Kinda like a young, pretty trophy wife on my arm--a pathetic combination. I could get a really nice Healey 3000 for the same money, and probably have a bit left over. That just seems to fit better.

Here is my reasons for buying the Lotus. First I am only 28 years old so it is one of the few british cars from my generation that I can buy in North America (is there really any other british sports car for sale at an attainable price?). A lot of guys in my local have owned their cars from new or nearly new and I wanted at least one car I can have that experience with.

I think the thing most of you don't realize is that the Elise is the modern incarnate of the Sprite. It is very light (1800 lbs) has a small engine (1.8L) and goes and handles like a Sprite on steroids.

But the similarities continue, the car is very minimalist, there is no power steering, cruise control, sound deadening, and has basic climate controls. The convertible top leaks and so does the trunk, it even states on the top that it is meant to keep the rain off you but not from getting into the car. There is plenty of wind noise even with the hard top on. It is even difficult for most people get in and out of just like a Sprite.

It feels very much like a modern Sprite to drive around because it has all of those little quirks that an old british cars have, if you get a chance take one for a drive.

I first visited one morning...went back a few days later & spent the aftertnoon & into the evening in his bar....got lots of ideas from his place.

I like that one too Morris, but I think I would like it even more if it were Hydrogen-powered...to me that is the sensible approach to motoring in the future (hopefully sooner than later!)

Oh, and Steve (Tullamore) I couldn't agree with you more in comparing the Bugeye to the Elise! The only difference would be in the pricing!!
