Forgive me - but I've found a Datsun B210 (FREE!),
& will pick it up this weekend to save my Cortina MKIII
from the Winter rains,etc.
Many of us have Japanese,Korean, etc.cars as our daily
transportation.
"Boring,but there!"
Anyone have anything interesting for these (parts)?

A quick glance through Classic Motorsports shows several Z-car ads for parts, maybe they carry 210 parts as well.

B210 - is it the 5-speed? If so, its transmission will fit in an MGB!

Boring??? They used to race the heck outta these things and there are tons of performance tweaks to play with.

I'd take a free one in a heartbeat.

And they have that so-ugly-I'm-cute thing going for them.

Cool....I always liked those 'so ugly i am cute' looks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

or a 1990 gazelle - hehehehehehe.

I just mean boring in the stock sedan sense. Many cars I would normally find boring become incredibly fun with a little tweaking. I don't think Datsun made many bad cars in its history.

Picked it up today - Rebuilt motor,needs u-joints,+ a
few things that I'll find later.
It has the same mags (Appliance copies of the Crager-
- "Classics".Body's seems to be straight & rust free.
Turns out that it's a "'78".
I'll know more tomorrow.

doesn't sound boreing to me... 95 cavilier is boring.. 78 Datsun is still out of the ordinary, and I bet you'll love driving it.

Ok, whats involved in fitting the B210 transmission to the "B".? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

4 Speed,needs clutch & brake work.
Who would know about what brakes, etc.,
interchange with the stock ones?
Also, meant to say that the mags are the same
type/style,as my MKII Cortina.
I'd like to (have to)do this on the cheap.

Good car. Boring perhaps, but still a good car.

As I've grow older I've come to appreciate the sublime virtues of boring cars...

They go where I want, when I want, how I want, without demanding any undue attention or bother and usually with a degree of comfort and composure.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hmmm? Datsun B210 eh?

Well in 1981 I was a yard supervisor on a rental car lot and those B210s where our ultra cheapie budget rentals. In the company’s lineup the B210 with it’s Singer sewing machine engine, was placed at the bottom with the Dodge Omni & a few left over AMC Pacers placed just above them.

Drove so many of those little things that I couldn’t tell you for sure how many if I tried to. Most came with a manual but a few had an Auto that was a real slug.

I have always considered the Japanese cars as the true descendent of the LBC, rather than British Leyland.

Datsun was liscensed by Austin to produce Austins for the eastern hemisphere. Look at the 1960s datsun motors and they are just like the Austins.
