I'm Exhausted

Ok I give up is there some trick to getting the exhaust bolted up to the exhaust manifold that I dont know about? I was able to get the front flange bolted up but the rear one no matter how hard I try will not go over the studs. Its like everything is just a hair to small but since it fit before it cant be.

You sure it's not "double ringed" with an old gasket in there? That's about all I can think of to hold it off far enough to be as you describe, Stew.

Positive The pipe portion is nice and tight but I cant get that triangle flange to fit over the 3 studs. First one a little wiggle and bam on.

Ooof. Could it be one of the studs is bent? The "triangle" is equidistant stud-to-stud, usually it just *fits*. I sympathize. Lyin' upside-down tryin' to work on something you can either reach or see but not BOTH at the same time is agony. Braille wrenchin'.

I have not heard it referred to that way but, WOW, is that a good description...

It's finally on. The transmission x member was way more fun to deal with than this as at times you need 4 hands where one will fit. The cause was one slightly large weld that wouldn't let the rear flange square up. After a lot of thinking and a lot of luck it went on. Thank god that's over with. The worst part was seeing them going on and scrambling to get nuts on them so the wouldn't come off again.
