Been away from the forum way too long. Feels good to have the time and energy to post something again.
It has been a very trying few months. In June I lost my brother to bladder cancer after a year and a halfbattle. He and I were like two peas in a pod. The last two weeks were especially hard as I was called upon to sit with him while the rest of the family went about earning a living. Watching him waste away was the most painfulexperience I have ever had.
In August I lost an uncle to a heart attack. This, on top of losing my brother was too much. I just withdrewfrom doing the things I enjoyed, like posting here. I did how ever keep working on the spit6 project.
Also in August I was informed that my blood pressure was way too high. (220/110). Follow-up tests showedthat not only was my blood pressure too high I also had too high of cholesterol and I was diabetic. I had to make some serious changes in my lifestyle.
I joined an online diet and nutrition site, and started going to the local gym. I have lost 27# so far andmy bp is much better. My cholesterol #'s are getting better and my diabetes is under control. Diet, exercise and medication seem to be working.
On The car side of things, progress is slower than I had hoped. The new drive train is in. Everything inthe driveline is from a 73 GT6. Modification to the body were neede to fit the engine. For some odd reason Triumph decided to switch sides when locating the starter. On the spit is pn the drivers side. One the GT6 engine itis on the passenger side. Had to modify the firewall and the tunnel cover to make it fit.
Also need to design a different style carb linkage as the gt6 uses a cable system while my spit has the mechanicallinkage.
I am in the process of rewiring the entire car. My last wiring job left a lot to be desired. This one isgoing to be better. I have been having a hard time keeping track of what goes where. I hope I don’t let the smoke out when I hook up the battery.
Well, it is off to the gym for an hour of torture.
