Sort of my plan with my $800 Bugeye.
Hopefully I'll get to go pick it up and trailer it home sometime in the next two weeks.
Then start with the motor and running gear and see what falls off when it runs under it's own power for the first time since the early 70's.
(pretty ambitious considering the shape it's in)

Your new Bugeye looks much much better than mine, I hope you really enjoy it!

I think about how far I've come since picking up the Tunebug in March of 2006 -- back then I knew pretty much nothing about these old cars, and now the thought of pulling the engine to replace the clutch isn't an issue, just a matter of freeing up a few evenings. Long strange trip indeed.
 
Congrats Drew! I'm hoping to start my bugeye restoration soon as well. Although I doubt that I will supercharge it, I do plan on a 1275, disc brakes, and possibly a 5-speed, so we will be facing some of the same problems. It will be nice to have someone to commiserate with!

Thanks, Keith. Always good to have someone around to share the joy/misery! If I get motivated I'm going to try and get it driving and registered before the Miner's Day parade in Park City -- but we'll see.

You'll have to keep us informed as you go through your restoration.
 
Glad to "help" your addiction Drew! Having the hardtop (looks original) and overall looks very decent. Yeah, change the clutch and drive as is for now and just enjoy this little jewel.

I have a couple extra 1275s and probably all the bits for the disk swap and assorted other stuff. I live in Park City, so it'll be easy to get it to you if you're interested. I'm also not in any hurry to get rid of anything, but if you need stuff let me know. Ill keep an eye out for you at the parade, assuming I'm not in my garage working on my Bugeye.

Or, Ill try to make it to the Silver Star on the 24th- my little girl is a budding guitarist.
 
We should connect at some point anyways -- I'm just down the hill in Midway and work in Park City. I'll be at the parade (probably in the B, but trying for the Bugeye). I'll definitely be interested in a 1275 and disc brake bits, those I'll be doing no matter what.

Come on out to the Silver Star! It's a great place to hear live music, though you may want to make a reservation as they're usually quite busy.
