I'm a short gu y

and I still am cramped in my TR6. I only drove the car a short time before I started getting it painted and do some other maintenance about 2 years ago.

I now remember how tired my legs got after about an hour of driving. I rest my right knee on the console and rest my left foot on the dimmer switch. There is not enough room under the brake and clutch pedals to stretch at all.

I am only 5'9" so this should not be a problem. Am I the only wimp here or are others having the same problem?

Hi 69tr,

I am 5'9" also and you pretty much describe how it fits. I drive our TR6 a lot and most of the time several hours at a time. What I found is that when we first got it I felt more tense and cramped. As time went on and we logged more miles I began to be more relaxed and I did not feel as tense. Now I feel good even after a long day of touring.

Try fitting in there at 6'1" and 210lbs. Getting in is easy. I don't worry about resting or stretching my legs anywhere, because there is no anywhere to be found with my fat butt in that little car. It's always the getting out that's bad for me.

6' 190lbs No problems at all. I did remove the console though, and moved the ignition switch to the dash. I feel with the seat all the way back there's plenty of room. Weird.

Move the dip switch to a stalk style and give your left foot more room

I agree that the dimmer switch makes it a little cramped, especially when first driving. I'm 5'9" and 170 (I think I was about 155 when I got the car  ) but now that I've gotten used to the foot switch I don't ever notice feeling cramped. I like the moving the foot switch idea though.

Being 6'3", that's one of the things I really enjoy about these cars. You feel like you're wearing it...

Just don't hit anything or you definitely will be wearing it.....

69TR,
The average height for an American man is just under 5'10". You're not short.
The average height for a Mexican man is 5'2.5". That is short. Curiously the same site lists the average Mexican female at 5'7".
You may want to try leaning the seat way back. You'll find that you can stretch your legs out a little further.
I drove from Huntsville to Birmingham Alabama last week for a show. I was pretty beat by the time I got home. I think a lot has to do with the lack of thigh support in the seats. On my next 100 mile trip I'll experiment with some extra padding at the front of the seat.
Paul,
I know what you mean about getting out. Does your steering wheel seem to be bigger then when you first bought the car?

Im 5'10" 185lbs

I also have the same problem as everyone..

Plus my seat does not go back to the very last notch, cuz of my roll bar.

but as it was said before, the more ya drive the more relaxed ya get.

Its all good, well worth the slight lack of comfort.

STILL NOTHING QUITE LIKE DRIVING THESE LBC!!!

Try a smaller diameter steering wheel, will give you a bit more room.

I have gained 50 pounds since the end of high school when I got my car. And for some reason the car has not gotten any bigger even though I have. Go figure (sorry for the pun)!

Drive it fast on curvy roads with a lot of shifting. That will keep your legs from tiring.

Actually, I find long trips on our highways are uncomfortable whether it is a TR6 or a TR4. Seat adjustment, the size of the steering wheel, and the condition of your seats make a difference. That said, the rest is just the nature of the beast. So on long trips, to avoid leg fatigue, take regular pit stops. It won't add that much to your trip time, and you will feel better, and actually may be surprised at what can be found off the freeway.

I put a 13" wheel on my Tr6, what a major difference in the way it feels

& it gives ya more room for your knees too!

Bob, my wheel is the same, but my stomach is NOT.

Bill, where did you get that 13" wheel? I like the looks of that model. Is the turning much more difficult? I'm thinking about my wife and when she needs to park it.

very simple to turn...

twas' an ebay item, bout 2 years ago. I think I paid 75$ for it

Ill send ya the name on it later today.

You can really feel the difference between driving a school bus & a sports car!
