I'll Show You Mine If You'll Show Me Yours

WOW!! Didn't know you could switch 'em like that...is that standard or an option?

Are those the Hepko & Becker bags? They look nice!

To answer a few questions above, the bags are from a company named Leather Lyke. Very nice work they do. The solo seat is from Corbin, called a Smuggler. The flyscreen is a factory accessory, low bars from Bella Corse and bar end mirror from CRG. (Maybe an hour to convert - forgot about the bags and brackets)

So, Paul - you built your own conversion - neat....you should do a "how to" since it might convince a couple of us to go new!

Noooo.. Must... resist... sold off.. all ..bikes... not .. going... back... to... having... bikes..
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
whywhywhywhywhy did this forum have to start?!!!!
Nice bikes wveryone. I personally really like the BSA above

I'm kinda partial to the BSA too - it seems to stand out amongst all those triumphs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tony,
I know a bloke who bought a Norton like that about 15 years ago. He answered an ad in the paper for one that wasn't going, went and had a look at it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif, looked good, kicked it over, lots of resistance must have good compression, checked the spark, nice and fat and blue, seemed OK, can't be much wrong so it should go without much trouble. He paid a reasonable (he thought) price and took it home. He mucked about with it for about 2 days with no luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif until he finaly checked the compression pressures. "0" PSI presures so lifted the head. "TENNIS BALL" had been inserted in the cylinder to give the impression of compresion /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif he had to completly overhaul the engine at great expense to the management (really pi$$ed off)
He got it going well and has since sold it, just a story I thought some of you may enjoy.

I actualy have an old BSA A65 (1964) that I have owned since the 70s. Its unrestored and needs a bit of work although it still runs.
Thanks Basil for the new section I can see it adding to the best site online even more!

Tennis ball.....hehehehehe....what an idea!

Just when ya think you've seen every dodge there was...

Wow.

Tennis anyone? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Tennis ball - fantastic. Even worse than bananas in a differential to stop noise, which really, really, smell bad when opened.

Here is a pic of my Bsa a65 70ish i think. It needs a little work. I know some of the history behind it and i know the motor is good,,,been looking for a front end for it..

Oatmeal works well too and doesn't smell as bad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've seen shag carpet under Chevy valve covers to quiet down valve noise.
Never heard of bananas... Sawdust yes.

Well, it is not, strictly speaking, British. But it does shift on the "wrong" side! and UP, down down down and down at that! Does that count?

And here is one that really IS British. The dreaded OIF Thunderbolt!

I had a CBX like that. silver anyway. Mine was a '79 with a Russ Collins pipe.

I still own this. Bought it new. Its still nearly perfect with only 50,000 miles. rode it to Mexico, entered it in a road race from San Filepe to Ensenada and rode it home once. Its peppy for a Norton. Not too many pushrod twins will run with it. Fairing is gone now.

This has been in my family since the late 70's. Mine for the last 20 years. It has an HPI cam and motor. Its very peppy for a Norton. Mods are from the 70's and are thus period correct. This Commando hauls.

You, Sir, have a good eye for bikes. Yep 79, stock with euro kit and 8.9k. Here is an unusual bike, although not British, NSU SuperMax 250cc OHC. I am working on a 441 Victor special but it has a ways to go yet.
