Maybe not leaps and bounds ,but the alt. is fixed the exhaust problems are done and I thought I would share what I went thru
Sorry boss, a few pics here.

The headers are sold with a mid pipe to connect with the muffler section. I seem to have a problem with mine and no one could figure out what was up

So with the help from Doc Bill I figured this stuff out

And "<span style="font-weight: bold">Finally</span>"here it is connected. Good enough to get the motor running and before I get the rest of the exhaust built.

Where di you pick up those flex pipes? That may be what I need for my sons car.

You might want to turn those clamps on the side instead of straight down to avoid hitting driveways and the like.

I typed that suggestion based on hard earned personal experience. Like the hair club for men commercial, "I not only own those clamps, I've nearly torn them off going in and out of my driveway".
 
In my day, we used beer cans. The rich kids would use TWO beer cans.

What's the world coming to?
 
Might as well update since you dragged this up. The fans are wired,thanks Mick. The hoses are on, whose idea was it to put hose clamps in places you can't see never the less get your hand in. The sump is full of oil. the last wire hook up is done. The new ign. wires are scattered all over the floor.The computer chip is still lying in the foot well of the passenger side. Oh well. I'm getting there.
TOC,(Dave),any chance you could give me an assist when I go and start this thing. It's been a long time since I started a motor after a cam change. I could use some good eyes on the motor and the experience.

We "professional" shadetree exhaust menders now tend to use Campbell's Chunky Soup cans. First, you get a great meal out of the contents, after which the can makes for a very durable repair. Earlier this year, my sister pulled into my driveway with her Daewoo wagon's exhaust dragging, it having separated just behind the headpipe. A couple cheap clamps from NAPA and a Chunky Soup can, and she was on her way. I advised her to have her mechanic check it out when she got home (lives 110 miles away from me); he retightened the clamps and said all was fine! :thumbsup:
 
We've even pop-riveted CAB cans into bodywork as a backing for th' Bondo!!! :devilgrin:
