so i bought the car and one out of twenty times when i turned the key i would get just a click and nothing else. Now It will only turn over one out of twenty and the rest i just get a click. When it turns it sounds like the starter is fine. Is it in the column somewhere? I cant find that on moss. Any ideas?

It sounds as though you have a starter issue. Will it crank at all now? When it won't, try tapping the side of the starter with a hammer. You might have a dead spot in it that's just warning you about the need to buy a new one.
English cars talk, Just listen carefully.

when it turns it works fine. when it wont it will just click once like a contact but nothing after that

Look at the contacts on the starter itself to see if any of the wires are loose.

If it clicks once, that's the solenoid doing it's job. The starter has a dead spot me thinks. I'd try to find someone that sells it with a LIFETIME guarantee. Perhaps try an autozone or advanced auto parts. In time you'll be glad you have this. I dropped 300bucks rebuilding my old alternator with a Lucas guru only to watch it die 1 year later. I then switched over to whatever lifetime auto zone sold. I toasted 2 of those and finally got a good one. The starter and the alternators on these are 20 minute jobs to replace, so no biggie.

Bummer. well its pouring out today so i will wait for a break before i climb under to check wires. thanks for the ideas, i will keep you posted

ok got the break. i set up a remote starter switch. (this seems to be my fall back plan for about anything this summer) the starter turns fine when ever and however long i want. it must be a connection then. This is something i stumbled across when i was trouble shooting a b that did int want to start. So i will start another thread for that. I will post back with the connection results
