Hi everybody - Last month I had no idea how to replace the brakes on my Bugeye, and you folks talked me through the whole process, brakes, wheel cylinders, hoses, master cylinder - and it works great. :thankyousign:

Here's my current issue - I've got to replace the ignition wires and plugs, and again, I've never done this on a Bugeye before - I've never had to deal with a side entry dist cap. So how do I go about doing it? I figured out how to release the wires fron the inside of the distributer cap, I guess my question is What should I buy from Moss (or VB). It's a 948, what wires, how do I attach the caps for the plugs, and what plugs should I get?

Sometimes I think I'm pretty old to be learning all of this stuff now, but So Far, So Good...

Unless you palying the concourse game get rid of that PITA side entry cap, and get a top entry. Once you do that you can buy specific 948 wires, or go to the parts store and get a nice set of Accel wires, and cut them to fit.

Several places can fix you up with a top cap and wires,

I ditched my side entry cap as Hap suggested. I used an MGB cap & rotor with MGB wires. The wires are a little longer than they need be, but otherwise if fits perfectly. Got mine from Kragens.

I love my side entry cap, the wires never fall out.
And if you go to the local auto parts store, ask for a set of Chevy V8 wires
(7mm) you get 2 sets, one for now, one for later or the *other* LBC.
But if you go with a top entry cap, get a set of wires from World Wide Auto Parts
in Madison , WI. Peter the shock guy.

If you get ACCEL pt # 3008 you can go either way. If you're o.k with crimping ends, you can squeeze four sets out of the ACCEL kit.
 
If you get the ACCEL #3009 it has 8 90 degree spark plug booted wires so you get two sets from on kit. Also has wires for primary from the coil to the dizzy.

And get this, they are bumblebee yellow.
 
and while it's likely obvious - only replace one wire at a time - don't ask me how I know
 
I crossed up two wires yesterday and I have no idea how it happened as I did one at a time. I'd swear someone switched them around when the car was broke down on the side of the road but there wasn't enought time for them to do it. They would had to have done it as soon as my wife picked me up to go get the trailer. There was no one around.
