What gauge of white wire is needed to go from the ignition switch to to the fuse block? 68 spitfire with alternator.

The British specify their wire sizes differently than we do. The factory would have used something almost equivalent to 18 AWG. However, I would use 16 AWG just because it is readily available and a little heavier duty.

Incidentally, you can get all the original wire colors and sizes from the folks at BritishWiring.com.

From the diagram I'm looking at, that wire carries power for ignition, gauges, heater, turn signals, brake lights, wipers and reverse lights. Adding up some rough guesses for all those loads comes to almost 30 amps.

I believe original would have been 18 strand, which is roughly 14 AWG. Even using 12 AWG (or 44 strand) wouldn't hurt any.
