Ignition parts question

We've found that out about the resistors. MB 190's also use a resistor, instead of a carbon brush, they also eat caps.

My 6 cap has a carbon brush with a spring behind it. Been on for years and years now.

When I bought my Crane it was 79 dinero, and the MSD was from Howards at just over two c-notes. Being as how they've been on for almost twenty years, two cars, and roughly 50+K miles. I'd say investment well spent. Bought a replacement cap(after I got away from the Bosch feldergarb, which I still have in its box, and a backup rotor, still on the standard/bluestreak rotor put in somewhere around 02

Okay Dale, the point grease(parts store may have to order it for you) comes in a little tube. I think I still have my tube in my toolbox from the 80's. Standard Blue Streak are heavy into ignition components. call your parts stores and see who carries Blue Streak line. Get them to order a rotor for you and a tube of the grease.

When you have the cap and rotor out and have your sweetie turn the engine with the key you can see the distributor shaft turning and pushing on the rubbing block, opening the points. You want to put just a wee dab on the side of the block where it first comes in contact with the distributor shaft.
