Ignition light staying on

I recently installed a new dashboard. Everything works fine, except the ignition light at the botton of the tachometer stays on. In fact, it increases in intensity with higher RPMs and just abuot goes out at idle. I checked the amp meter wiring, and it is OK. I would appreciate any ideas.

If you look at this wiring diagram, you will see that the bulb in question goes from the ignition to the alternator. When the alternator voltage exceeds the battery voltage, the bulb is extinguished. If it stays lit, that indicates a problem with the alternator. Did the light work correctly before you changed the dash?? I would first check the voltage output of the alternator. The symptoms you describe for the light are exactly what happens when the alternator belt is too loose. Check that first before ripping into the dash.
