I have several old Lucas coils and I recently had them tested. Three tested good, and two tested bad. Of the three good ones, two are labeled HA12, and one is labeled 15C6. Would I be correct to surmise that the HA12 coils are 12-volt, and the 15C6 coil is for a 6-volt system? Thanks.

Yes Editor Ried, in this case your interpretation of the coils is spot on.--Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Keoke. I also appreciate how even when I was right about something, you can make it sound like I'm normally wrong about everything. You're truly multi-talented. Ever considered politics? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh no just like to tease you a bit. What HA12 coils do you have there were three that I know of. 1] was the tower type with the screw in terminal.2] was its replacement shorter with a black insulator but still retained the screw in terminal. The third one was just like #2 except it used a push in terminal. The old Tower type coil with the redish tall insulator had a bad habit of arcing to its own primary terminals .---Fwiw--Keoke

[/ QUOTE ]"15C6" doesn't show in my Lucas Master Catalogue 400E, 1945-60; maybe it's a newer coil?

For whatever it's worth, "HA" coils are "high performance" coils, as opposed to the "LA" (standard) or "SA" (Sports).
