Ignition Coil Mounting

Ok, I ordered a set of Cobalt ignition wires for my 79 Midget, and the wire that runs from the distributor cap to the ignition coil is not long enough. I noticed that the coil is mounted vertically (with the top pointing toward the windshield), is that the correct position? I think it may be mounted wrong, because if I rotated the coil, then the wire will reach..I think the guy before me mounted it wrong I guess?? Anyone have a picture of how this coil should be mounted?

I also noticed that the wires that go to the coil are in reverse maybe? The white wires from the harness and the Lucas amplifier (mounted below the coil) go to the negative post on the coil, and the white wires with the black line on them are routed to the positive post on the coil..Is this correct?? The car has been running fine set up like this...

I don't have a picture, but the top of the coil should be pointing downward. Not sure about your other question though, but if it's running fine then I wouldn't mess with it.

Not a great picture, but... you've got a 1500? Pretty sure this is the stock position, coil facing inward toward the engine.

Wire end of coil faceing toward engine and down a bit so water does not collect in it.

This for Bugeye or early midget. Second pic for later builds.

Thanks guys! I remounted it pointing downward, and the wire reaches now easily..The cobalt wires are a nice set...
