ignition amplifier

The typical failure pattern is a total loss of spark. They occasionally fail under heat and load a few times, and will recover with about 20 minutes cooloff. They one day, you go to start, and nothing happens. Inside the "black box" there is a GM-type module, available from good European parts sources for a lot cheaper than the whole black box,and has about an 80% chance of repairing it.

The iginition amplifier may be totally recoditioned by getting the GM module from a parts store, the diode and capacitor from an electronics store. The parts should cost you less than $50 or you may buy a new black box for $200?
