Ignition advance???

Haha, give it to him Jeff.

Smartest thing I did in a long while was have Jeff rebuild my dizzy. Miss Agatha has run great since.

Well then, maybe I'll just send it off after Christmas. it is the correct dizzy for a stock 1098, (40919) 34 degrees of total advance, with a Crane conversion. .. I'll be in touch, Jeff.

Good move.

I didn't mean to come across as giving you a hard time. Its just that These probelms can only be diagnosed by fully mapping out the advacne and comparing what works (known good curve) with what's actually happening. Anything else is merely speculation. One big problem in the A-series is timing chain slop, and loss/gain of advance depending on engine load. It can be a LARGE amout of timing variation.

Bills 10CC 1098, I suspect, has the single row timing chain which BMC replaced with the double row when they went to the 1275. I know his is'nt as worn as one that I once had that I could turn the crank shaft a quarter turn before I could see any movement in the distributor. I can definetly see your point though, Jeff.

When Paul A. rebuilt the 1098 he put in a double row adjustable timing chain and has it set for two degrees of advance. When I send the dizzy to Jeff, I'll send a copy of the specs on the cam. That and he had to over bore by .020 giving me an 1115 IIRC. Those are the only internal mods to the engine. The timing light show timing solid as a rock.
