As we all know, these cars never had quite enough cooling capacity. I tried various things at the suggestions of the forum; the correct style thermostat, and a BCS fan, they both helped a little. The BCS fan helped more than the thermostat. It still wasn't enough.
... I just installed my recored radiator ( my original tanks soldered on to a new modern core ) that was done by by a local radiator shop. That made a big difference !
It still warms up when stopped at a light for a long time, but as soon as you take off, the car cools back down to the rating of the thermostat, within a 1/2 mile or so. That would never happen with the original radiator.
The original radiator core had 3 rows of 24 little tubes with very simple fins between the tubes. The new core has 3 rows of 47 tubes. Each tube is oval shaped and there is a lot of Z shaped heat fins zig zagging between all of them. I would guess that it now has at least twice the heat transfer capability as the original core... Here are some pics;

That is good value, over this side a replacement Rad would cost around ÂŁ365 and am not sure if it is Hi performance. My local Healey expert did get one built for one of the four litre models and it cost a lot more. The oil cooler was relocated and a lot of rubbish from other attempts to resolve the problem was removed and it did work.
