never get a project someone else disassembled! After six years, I am finally starting to re-assemble my 57 TR3 and I find I am spending hours trying to figure out how things go back together. Today's problem lies with the heater and the long shaft steering brackets and braces. I've tried to go through the archives and I have found some good pictures but I am not quite there yet. Would someone please post some GREAT under dash pics so I can continue? Thanks.

Dont know if these will help at all but I thought I would post what I have.

I'm in the same boat. Bought my 56 in pieces too. I have some pics I just scanned yesterday that I got from previous owner. I can see some pieces in the pics I've had to source elsewhere ... not in any of the boxes I have!

These pics are not great, but perhaps they will help.

Cheers, Mike

Took mine all apart myself. You'd think I'd be somewhat better off, wouldn't you. Tom

Look on the bright side. Now you get to use your years of vast knowledge to make it better than it was when it left the factory.

All the parts blow ups from the big three, the official red covered service manual, and the PDF file of the parts manual. In addition, Piggott's "In Detail" and "Original TR"

So that twisted bracket goes up to the dash! Is that a tie wrap or a u-bolt hanging from the bolt on that clamp?

Also, are there any braces/brackets under the bonnet?

Great pics Al. Thanks for sharing. They will be very useful as I tackle this part of my restoration. Cheers, Mike

Show off Al!

Looks great.

bn,

Just a tie wrap.

Cheers,
David

BTW - wasn't trying to be unsympathetic in my earlier post, was just making sure you had a couple of manuals since they all cover different items differently and I've found that to be a help.

Here are the images so everyone can see them w/out leaving BCF.

Howdy Folks,

I have a `57TR3 Small Mouth. My Dash, Heater Mtg. Brkts etc are all done & Installed. My TR "DID`NT" come with that "TWISTED" support bracket. Is that a stock item that should be there & If the answer is "Yes"; Where can I get one?

Thanx, Russ

I believe it should be there, but I don't know of anyone who is reproducing them. So either find one used or make one yourself.

Probably not all that important anyway, all it seems to do is stiffen the dash a bit in that area.

My 57 doesn't have it either.

I could have it wrong, but I thought that little twisty bit was a later addition so early cars would not have it.

Possibly installed when they went from split column to single-piece column?
