One year at the Lime Rock Vintage I saw this Deusenberg Special racer.
It's sort of similar looking, but seems to lack the chain drive and the full-elliptic springs.

The middle picture shows a spare rod and piston!

One thing great, or not so great, about the American La France is it gets 2 gallons to the mile, or pretty close. We had one in the fire company more than a few years back when I was a kid and every time they had to run it out of town to the country they almost ran out of gas before they got it back! The exhaust was so loud, it would almost break your ear drums while taking off from the fire house. PJ
