Dude, how is having 2 acres of indoor car storage sad? I know y'all will think I'm nuts, but you could make a good living off the scrap metal from that place.

You can sell old bricks and broken concrete too. I'd have the owner supply me with a dump truck, dozer and backhoe. You could clean it up, make money and improve the property all at the same time.

You could organize the local tag artist and punks to help you tear down the worst buildings. You could also pay them some and teach 'em a skill.

I see nothing but win-win all across the board with that place.

I'd organize the local tag artists to a specific area, and challenge them to do their best work. Then hold an art show.

That's what I was thinking. Also, if you focus them on one building they aren't tearing up all the others.

Well, of course, I was referring to the MAN and the continued state of the plant. It's like one big cemetery (for a grand car).

Yeah but it's the American dream. He could be living in a dumpster.

This past Saturday night, 27 teens from my church and a neighboring Lutheran church spent the night on the church grounds in a project called "Cardboard Village". They were given cardboard and duct tape, and were told to construct sleeping arrangements on the concrete tiled area between the church and the parish house. The adult leaders had oversight and limited the kids on when and what they could eat, what they could do during the experience, and the kids watched a couple of documentaries on homelessness. They will also be working later this week at Manna Cafe, a food pantry set up here in Clarksville for distributing food to the homeless. This is the third year we've done this, and each time the kids have had their world rocked, at least for a couple of days.

We are a downtown congregation, and I've come to church many times in the morning to find one or more persons sleeping in a doorway. There has also been one guy (maybe others) who created a space between the two air handling units behind the church. Walking by, one would never know anyone was there. He, "Clyde", actually stopped by last year, with one of his buddies, and talked to the kids for an hour or so about his situation and experiences. He's still on the streets - I see him regularly, and several times I've told him about a new homeless person I've encountered who needed someone to talk to.

No, they got the point.
