Idle Speed

Hi Ray, With the Vacuum line closed off use the 600-to-750 RPM value if the engine will idle smooth this range.---Fwiw---Keoke
 
Find the lowest range it will idle smooth with the trans in neutral and you foot off the clutch pedal. The, push in the clutch pedal and make a not on how much the idle drops and then adjust the idle back up a notch or two to where it'll idle the smoothest.
Forget the tach indicated rpm on the car unless you have just recently had it rebuilt.
 
Well Yeah Patrick, you could do it that way. But IMOP it would be better to have the timing correctly set before attempting to set low idle speed engine torgue. Similarly, all some of the guys may have available is the dash Tach to estimate engine speed.---Fwiw---Keoke
