I'm wondering what bit we can't get over here that will fit into a suitcase and does not weight a ton...

Any especially desirable items for a 3/4/6/7/8 come to mind?

How about a picture of you and the gal with the Mini's.

Yes, both the cars and skirts.

She made the calendar.

How about some of the small rubber pieces that your 8 might be missing? There are a quite a few of them around the doors. Rimmers has lots of these small parts that I think are unavailable in the US for your 8. Sunvisors for the 8. I believe that Robsport might be the only ones that have these or who are planning to make these again (I need tan!).

Here Here I need tan too . I also need those little pieces around the door at the top of the B pillar

Good idea guys - have you tracked down specific part numbers from the specific vendor you have in mind?

I don't mind picking up some items like that while I'm over there and then sending them along once I get back.

Hey, Tom -

Not sure if those are the parts they're talking about, but these are very hard to find, and the originals were very thin and brittle:

Scroll down to "Door Aperture Seals and A-Post Trim"

YKC3377

If you can bring back a bunch of them, you'll be a hero.

I could also use a spare set of tan visors, if they're available.
Mickey

Hi Mickey - They're going to end up being around $20 each after exchange rate (and possibly VAT depending upon if I can legitimately avoid paying it).

Does that still fly?

Considering their rarity, and that mine are toast, there's not much choice! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

When are you going?

How about a British Heritage Certificate if you don't already have one.

I fly out on Sunday, returning the following Friday.

I was planning on ordering on Monday for deliver to the hotel so I can check the items in with my luggage on Friday.

I did this once before and it worked well.

'K - let me know how you want to arrange for payment. I'd like to get the pair of them, and a pair of tan visors (though I'm not sure they have those).

Just a thought, but make sure there is no mail strike going, they should be able to advise you ahead of time if there is a shipping issue to your hotel.

Moss Europe does carry a lot of things we don't have over here - might be worth a look at their online catalog. Their Moss London warehouse was great to stop at and spend lots of money. One particular item, not that rare but handy - if you are considering a fan conversion for a TR3 or 4 they have a nice stainless water line with a port for the thermostat. Pretty reasonably priced too.

And of course, lots of Revington parts can fit in a suitcase - provided you get a big enough one!

How about a "Boot Bag". They are waterproof and won't scratch your paint. For ÂŁ56, they fit all TRs. There is no VAT to pay or collect back as Antony is just starting out with this new product.

I have no commercial or financial interest in this product or this company, but I'm seriously considering getting one.

Well I got some not-great news from Rimmer today. Both of these items are out of stock;

Capping* (Rh) - YKC3377
Capping* (Lh) - YKC3376

and

Capping* (Rh) (Convertible only) - YKC3377
Capping* (Lh) (Convertible only) - YKC3376

I'm still checking on similar other items, and I am not sure about their offering any sort of club discount.

I have a call into RobSport about Sunvisors but have not heard back yet.

I am still interested in the visors
And if your going to Robsport bring back a rear disk rear end.

Nothing! Too expensive! And at this rate we may want to become a colony once again! At least we would have universal health care! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Seriously, I lived in the U.K. in the early nineties. It amazed me how few TR parts there were. Even at the jumbles ( I went every weekend possible) were expensive and you'd be surprised at what junk was going for. Remember MOST of these cars were sold right here. Eventually they may have more sports car parts then we have, but only because so many of the cars have been returning home. I travel there often, but usually on expense account, and except for Stoneleigh seldom find anything exceptional. Another thing to remember, most repro parts are sourced out to LCC's (low-cost countries), e.g., India, Taiwan, Malaysia, etc. So, why pay for it AFTER it has been priced for the UK market!

At any rate, Bona Viaje

As I understand it, you'll have to pay VAT if you buy the parts in-country. However, there is a form you can get from the retailer, and file as you leave, to get back the VAT you paid. But you have to show both the goods and the form to the customs officer as you leave the UK, in order to file for the refund.

Ask the retailer beforehand, as apparently they are not required to give you the form (and you can't get the refund unless the retailer fills out the form).
