Crazy -- I got the numbers off the base of this mystery distributor in my TR7 -- 41701A . I can't find this anywhere. It's different than my TR3's just slightly, but it definitely looks like a Lucas unit. (Made in "England", so it must be!)

Any ideas oh wise people of the BCF?

Sam

I'm givin' it all she's got Capt'n.

I know that there was a recall of tr7 Lucas Distributors. The old model had the "amp" right on the distributor, the replacment has the square "amp" on the firewall near the distributor. I bet you have the replacement, should be model #47dm4. I think the old model was 45de4 or 45dm4. These model numbers are stamped on the back of the Distributor. Very easy to read with a small mirror! The part number you are listing might be the lucas number, I will look at mine and get back to you.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

If my memory serves me correclty, I beleive the Bentley Service Manual states that a 41700A is for a 77, 78,79 Federal Spec Car and the 41701A is for a 77,78,79 California Spec car.
