POTTER VALLEY, Calif. — A Mendocino County woman who was trying to kill mice in her trailer with a gun ended up shooting herself and another person.

The 43-year-old woman pulled out her .44-caliber Magnum revolver after she saw the mice scurrying across the floor of her trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley, sheriff's officials said.

But she accidentally dropped the gun, which went off as it struck the floor. The bullet went through the woman's kneecap, bounced off the keys sitting on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer and grazed the man's groin before ending up in his coin pocket.

Authorities did not release the shooting victims' names.

The mice escaped the shooting unharmed

Since she doesn't sound like that good of a shot, maybe she should buy some grenades.

That's the problem with California people...
They don't understand you have to have a cabinet full of guns so you can select the appropriate firearm for the job to be done.
(I mean they're like hammers... :yesnod:)

I'll have you know, there are no banjos out here buddy! State law. Anyone trying to enter will be turned away at the boarder.
 
The woman's last name wasn't McGoo, was it?? :laugh:
 
So...I'm guessing not everyone has a story about guns and mice???

Seriously - I think everyone should have a gun, preferably on their person, but this is a real argument for gun control...

As one of the cops that I used to work with once said to me:

If everyone was required by law to wear one, people would be a lot nicer to each other. You'd think twice before you cut someone off in traffic, broke in line at the movies, was rude to someone at the counter, etc. People would just naturally be much more polite to one another.
 
My point exactly.

But then my other theory is that you should get a certain annual quota of bullets to use - no questions asked - quantity based on the amount you pay in taxes.

I suspect that one is a little more contentious...

I find it hard to believe that a cop said that!
At what age would this law take effect? They use to refer to age 7 as the age of reason. Would that be appropriate? How about handing little Johnny and Mary a Glock with their reader on the first day of first grade.
