I have an AH Sprite engine tag #10CC-DA-H 42891

I am interested in knowing what the numbers represent?

Also interesrted in finding out if there is a registry that has the matching chassis number that this engine originally was in?

Any assistance is much appreciated.

Engines didn't match chassis with British cars like the little AH Sprite...on the VIN tag in the block "Engine Number" it always said "See Engine"....however, you have a pretty common 1098 engine - I need to check to see if it has the larger main bearings (which is the more desirable 1098).

Welcome,
According to the Terry Horler book, the Sprite and Midget Bible, your 10CC DA H 42891 is a 1098 cc engine from a MK111 Sprite. the 10 means it is an 1098 cc. The DA is the so-called "close ratio gearset" which was standard. The H means high compression at 8.9 to 1, rather than an L which is 8.0 to 1. Your engine sequence number is 42891 which means it was produced probably in 1966. The last of the 10CC engines was produced in Sept. of '66 with a sequence number of 52908.
All of the 10CC engines had the more robust crankshafts with 2.0 inch. dia. mains.
Hope this helps.

PS My new license plate. Isn't CA DMV great! They gave me in December a license plate and registration to a body with no tires, no engine and no nothing in it. It just now has an engine, suspension, and old tires!
Cheers!

Re: 1098 cc engine value

Can someone give me approx value of a rebuilt 1098 MK III engine? Has new pistons, bearings, ground crank, new oil pump, complete with carbs, clutch, flywheel, PP, etc.

Re: 1098 cc engine value

I'd think a rebuilt 1098 would bring $500 or so.

Re: 1098 cc engine value

It would cost $1000 to $1200 to do from scratch. ie a rough engine from someones storage garage.
