I went and did it!

Congrats on your sale. I know you've been thinking about this for years.

And don't fret about seller's remorse: I feel like I've owned zillions of cars. I have some great memories with many of them, but I've never been really sorry that I sold any. It just makes room for the next one.

..."So many cars; so little time."

By the way, my choice for a reasonable MGB replacement would be a TVR 2500. Reasonably priced and "different". They *do* have a Triumph engine /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/square.gif ....but still, a neat looking car that's great to drive.

Or a Marcos!

Yeah! Marcos has a REALLY high "Quirk Factor"! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Hate you sold it, Steve...but at least you're staying in the LBC fold.....have you noticed how many folks buy an LBC & dive right in to a full-up restoration, hit the show circuit, post on the BBS's, join clubs, etc. only to drift away into oblivion after a few months or years?....sorta like in Mickey's line of work: lots of folks join the church & are totally involved for a short time but drift away to old habits.
tony, or new habits. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/angel.gif "habits" get it? ah welcome home anyway.

On TR-6, look *very* carefully at rear trailing arm links at the frame end. Be sure frame is good in that area. Since the car was recently undercoated, this may be a bit of a task.

If it can be brought to a mechanic, I'd check the "crankshaft thrust". If equiptment is not handy, try to pry the front pully forward and backward to see if there is excess "slop". More than 0.015" means bad thrust washers...the nemesis of these engines (the closely related Spit engines have the same weakness).

If I was unsure of the history of any Spit or TR6 engine, I'd replace the thrust washers very soon.

Otherwise, looks like a nice car.

Nah! I see you and Catherine in a Stag! Seriously!

For 6.5k or less if the frame is sound, that's not a bad TR6. It'd be 2x that around here.

Sorry, Jeff...that TR6 snuck in between my post & the one above it - I was talking about the Citroen/VW kit car....
