I was robbed...

You can go with the "scary name" dogs if you like them. The key is the noise the dogs make. The robbers don't want anything that might draw attention. The little bitty dogs have a wicked yap that is often majorly annoying. We have had several dogs over the years and as the saying goes "the bark is worse than the bite". These days nobody pays attention to an alarm going off but have a dog barking for an extended period and that draws attention like moths to a flame.

Dave, I pm'd you.

Don't want to get into a lengthy diatribe on this forum due to the political nature of it, and this forum is for cars. But I felt it was worth passing along for you to explore. Might save you beaucoup bucks, without ANY attempt at defrauding the government.

my sympathies to you Shannon. Had it happen to me a couple years back.Ended up selling the place as the Mrs. never felt safe in there after that.
Word of advice here, get a dog or upgrade security system, because in my case them decrepit knobs tried the same thing about 9 weeks later.Guess they thought the would check out the new stuff.
Yes, I have heard of them coming back to get the new stuff you buy with your insurance money. Don't mean to alarm you, but take care just in case.
It is a terrible feeling having this happen. I feel for you. I returned home several years ago one night to discover a burglar in my house. He ran like a startled rabbit when I opened the front door. It took several years for me to be happy about returning to my house after dark.
Make sure your car keys are all accounted for, especially the Triumph's.

I've had a few friends get robbed. One of them found his stuff on ebay. He contacted the seller, and arranged an "inspection" of the goods for sale. He showed up with police and got his stuff back.

Keep and eye on craigslist and ebay. The local pawn shop, if not already monitored, is also good to check out.

Good luck.

These are the times that you'd like to have Mr. Smith and his assistant Mr. Wesson working for you.

Had a race trailer with over $22000.00 in race equipment and a race motorcycle stolen from in front of my house. It was during day light and about 1:30 in the afternoon. The trailer was locked and had those thick cable locks through the wheels. Cut all the locks with a torch and hooked up to the trailer and towed it away.
My home owners paid for the trailer and stuff. The motorcycle had full coverage even though it was a race motorcycle and GEICO paid for it. Guess what... my home owners insurance was not renewed and I had to get high risk at twice the cost.
Unless you feel that your stuff has to be replaced. I suggest holding off on the claim. Word of experience.

I am sorry for your your experience and am gladd all is okay at home. "feel you, man"!

Had my garage broken into about a month ago, at night while we were sleeping. Unfortunately my alarm, a 13 y.o. Australian Sheperd doesn't work as well as she used too. They got a couple of grinders, body tools, and my welder. Didn't realize until a few days later. Everything is replaceable but it's tough getting over the feeling of being violated. But it does get better.
