A local friend of mine on vacation just sent me back a photo of a place in California called Slab City, out of curiosity did a Flickr search and found tons of neat photos of some very cool stuff... Have any of you been there?

Tons of photos here... https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=slab+city

I want to go there and take my camera, eye candy... Alas, nothing even close to this here in hinterland... :grey:

Wow - that is one *interesting* place.

Wonder what archaeologists will think when they re-discover it hundreds of years from now.

What that, a Burning Man retirement village? :chuncky: Seems like a place that art(ist) go to die; dry, barren, lifeless. What could you possibly to out there other than make stuff till you croak? That would drive me nuts. What's up with the guard shack blast window/gun port things? The whole place has a post- atomic blast vibe on several different levels. I'd have to say something probably went down there. I can't think of any other reason to build structures like that especially that snail room thing with no roof.
