Pelican, no other explanation necessary.

We had a guy come to do a major repair on a jet engine once. He packed the guts of the engine in a fancy box, checked it as luggage - and had his tools in a similar case to that pelican one - check it too. Showed up, did some real major work repairing the engine, and went home.

He used to do it all the time, I guess the case held up!

It's nice... but my suspension (personal <span style="font-weight: bold">and </span>automotive) couldn't cope.... :nonod:
 
2 words.....hand truck.
 
It does have it's own handle and rollers built right in, but it would still be heavy. I worked for almost 30 years as a field service tech and had to carry a tool box around. Wheels are definitely a plus. I used one of those folding type hand carts such as used for air travel. My tool box was a Plano fishing tackle box, most of my tools were small for working on electronics gear. It still caused me lasting damage to my shoulder from dragging that around and it wasn't anything nearly as heavy as the box you want. Still it's really a nice item if you need to travel with your tools often.
 
Yeah, that occurred... but it kinda hits me that to have a toolbox at pit-side to be able to deal with "whatever", that'd be the thing to have. Not F-1 but certainly an SCCA or vintage effort.

I hear ya'.I guess I'm a tough customer when it comes to tools boxes. They seem to come in two flavors; Too many thick trays you can only get 5 tools in. An 80 gallon tub that takes you 15 minutes to find the little screwdriver that has vibrated to the bottom under the drill and staple gun. I've been looking for a good compromise for years.

Happy birthday. I have that very tool box. The main thing that irritates me is the height. If you are, oh, 5'5" it should work fine. For me at 6' though, it doesn't roll very well. If I walk upright, my heel kicks it and or the box wants to stand up. What I wind up doing is hunching over to the right as I walk. Very awkward. Roll one around the store a while before you put money down.
 
Yeah, I've been toying with the hand truck concept too. I bought a sheet of 1/8" thick aluminum but used it to make my rear seat back before I got to the toolbox. :shocked:
 
Kinda nice for the guy who has everything, but not very practical for the price. Doesn't hold enough tools. Like comparing a Timex to a Rollex, they both do the same job, it's just how much money do you want to spend! :jester:

Actually, I like Craftsman boxes for quality and price.
