So I've been on a bit of an SU rebuilding tear between the MGC, TR4A and Bugeye. Not sure exactly why but when I was rebuilding the HS2s today I stopped for a minute and just stared at them and was amazed. What an elegant design - just what you need an nothing more.

I had the same impression when I went through mine last winter.

Me too. Just to wonder about all the countless millions of miles of motoring with these carbs.

Cool. :yesnod:

For those of you that havent seen that link from John, it here it is;

Dan McKay, a Microsoft analyst from North Dakota, won an annual contest for bad writing by submitting an analogy that compared working on carburetors to fondling a woman's breasts. It goes a little something like this…

"As he stared at her ample bosom, he daydreamed of the dual Stromberg carburetors in his vintage Triumph Spitfire, highly functional yet pleasingly formed, perched prominently on top of the intake manifold, aching for experienced hands, the small knurled caps of the oil dampeners begging to be inspected and adjusted as described in chapter seven of the shop manual."

Great, now it's going to feel like I'm violating my car every time I go to change its oil. Thanks, man

Thanks John!

:eeek:

I'm a masher!! :shocked:

If you take apart and reassemble an SU enough times, soon you will have two SU's

True! Click and Clack have a letter to that effect recently, totally broken them up laughing on air. Very funny, because it is true.
